Biography

Mridu Chandra is a New York-based producer and filmmaker. She has produced documentaries and narrative films that have premiered at festivals including Sundance, Telluride and SXSW, and aired on PBS, HBO and Disney+.

She produced Becoming Cousteau (2021), directed by Liz Garbus, which received a BAFTA nomination for Best Documentary. She also co-produced and served as archival producer on Cured (2020), earning an Emmy nomination for research. Her work often addresses civil rights, environmental justice and LGBTQ+ history.

Chandra has worked in archival research and clearance on films including Steve Jobs (2015) and Whose Streets? (2017). From 2016 to 2019 she was founding director of IF/Then Shorts at the Tribeca Film Institute, supporting underrepresented filmmakers.
