Biography
Murvyn Vye, also credited as Mervyn Vye, was an American character actor. Born Marvin Wesley Vye Jr. in Quincy, Massachusetts, he was educated at Yale University and began his career on the stage.
He originated the role of Jigger Craigin in the original 1945 Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel. Vye made his film debut in Golden Earrings (1947) and appeared in numerous films and television series through the 1960s, including Road to Bali (1952), Pickup on South Street (1953) as Captain Dan Tiger, River of No Return (1954), Al Capone (1959) as George 'Bugs' Moran, and guest roles in series such as Perry Mason, The Untouchables and The Beverly Hillbillies.
He died in Pompano Beach, Florida, in 1976.
