Biography
Mykola Nademskyi (also credited as Nikolai Nademsky or Н. Надемский) was a Ukrainian actor who appeared in Soviet cinema from the mid-1920s until 1937. He began his career in theatre, including work at the Alexandrinsky Theatre, before transitioning to film and working at the VUFKU studios in Kyiv and Odesa.
He is best known for his roles in films directed by Oleksandr Dovzhenko, including Zvenigora (1928), Arsenal (1929) and Earth (1930), in which he played Grandfather Semyon. Over roughly twelve years he appeared in around fifty films, often in supporting or character roles, and sometimes playing multiple parts in a single production.
Nademskyi was arrested in 1937 during the Stalinist repressions, sentenced to death and executed later that year.
