Biography
Naďa Urbánková (born Naděžda Balabánová) was a Czech actress and singer. She trained as a nurse and made her professional stage debut in 1959 at the Pardubice Theatre. After moving to Prague she worked at the Laterna Magika and joined the Semafor theatre company in 1964, where she performed for a decade.
On screen she appeared as Victoria Freie in Jiří Menzel’s Closely Watched Trains (1966), as Lenka in Larks on a String (1969) and as Marta Zvonová in Secluded, Near Woods (1976). As a singer she recorded several hit songs and won five consecutive Golden Nightingale awards in the 1970s. She died in Prague on 3 February 2023, aged 83.
