Biography
Neil LaBute is an American playwright, film director and screenwriter. Born on 19 March 1963 in Detroit, Michigan, he studied theatre at Brigham Young University and later attended the University of Kansas and New York University.
He is best known for the play In the Company of Men (1992), which he adapted into a 1997 film that won awards including the Filmmakers' Trophy at the Sundance Film Festival. LaBute has written and directed other films such as Your Friends & Neighbors (1998), Nurse Betty (2000) and Lakeview Terrace (2008). He directed several episodes of the series Hell on Wheels (2011) and created the television series Billy & Billie and Van Helsing.
