Biography
Nikos Perakis (also credited as Nicos Perakis) is a Greek film director, screenwriter and production designer. He was born on 11 September 1944 in Alexandria, Egypt, to Greek parents and studied costume and stage design at the Fine Arts Academy of Munich from 1962 to 1966.
Perakis began his career as a set and costume designer in Germany, working on films including Volker Schlöndorff’s The Tin Drum (1979). He made his debut as a director in the early 1970s and is known for satirical comedies such as Bomber & Paganini (1976) and Loafing and Camouflage (1984), the latter screened at the 35th Berlin International Film Festival. From the 1980s he has worked primarily in Greece.
