Biography
Nitin Sawhney is a British composer, musician and producer. Born in 1964 in Rochester, Kent, he studied piano, guitar and sitar as a child and later worked in comedy before focusing on music.
He has composed scores for numerous films and television series, including The Namesake (2006), Midnight's Children (2012), Breathe (2017) and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018). Sawhney is also known for creating new orchestral scores for silent films such as Alfred Hitchcock's The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927) and Franz Osten's A Throw of Dice (1929), the latter premiered with the London Symphony Orchestra.
He received the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 and was appointed CBE for services to music.
