Biography
Norbert Glanzberg (12 October 1910 – 25 February 2001) was a Galician-born French composer and pianist. Born Nathan Glanzberg in Rohatyn, then in Austria-Hungary (now Ukraine), his family moved to Würzburg, Germany, in his infancy. He studied piano and composition at the Würzburg State Conservatory from 1924 and later worked as a conductor and composer in Germany.
After fleeing Nazi Germany in 1933, he settled in France and composed scores for numerous films, including Mon Oncle (1958) directed by Jacques Tati. He also wrote popular songs, notably several performed by Édith Piaf such as "Padam, padam" (1951). Glanzberg married Marischka Mazurek in 1952; they had a son, Serge, in 1959.
