Biography
Olof Ås (also credited as Olof Åhs or Olle Ås) was a Swedish actor and stage manager. Born Olof Alvar Hage Ås on 21 September 1892 in Katarina church parish, Stockholm, he began his career on the stage at Vasateatern as a teenager before moving into film work from 1912.
Ås appeared in nearly thirty films, often in supporting roles in productions directed by Victor Sjöström or Mauritz Stiller. His credits include A Man There Was (1917), The Outlaw and His Wife (1918) and the role of Driver in The Phantom Carriage (1921). He also worked as a stage manager and on special effects, notably on Gösta Berlings saga (1922).
Ås died on 4 September 1949 in Tureberg, Sollentuna Municipality, following a road accident.
