Biography
Oswaldo Massaini was a Brazilian film producer and distributor. He began working in production in the early 1950s and founded the company Cinedistri, which became a major producer and distributor of Brazilian films.
Massaini produced more than sixty films across several decades. His credits include The Given Word (1962, also known as O Pagador de Promessas), co-produced with Anselmo Duarte; the film won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. Other productions encompass Lampião, King of the Badlands (1964), Independência ou Morte (1972) and O Caçador de Esmeraldas (1979).
He was the father of film producers Aníbal Massaini Neto and Oswaldo Massaini Filho.
