Biography
Pat Irwin (born 17 May 1955) is an American composer and musician. He was a founding member of the no wave bands the Raybeats and 8-Eyed Spy in New York in the late 1970s, and performed with the B-52s from 1989 to 2008. He currently performs and records with SUSS.
Irwin has composed scores for the Showtime series Dexter: New Blood (2021), Dexter: Original Sin (2024) and Dexter: Resurrection (2025). His other television credits include Nurse Jackie, Bored to Death and The Good Cop (2018), as well as animated series such as Rocko's Modern Life, Pepper Ann and Class of 3000. Film scores include But I'm a Cheerleader (2000) and My New Gun.
He graduated from Grinnell College in 1977 and received a Watson Fellowship that took him to Paris, where he attended composition workshops with John Cage. He has received ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards for his work on SpongeBob SquarePants.
