Biography
Pat O'Connor is an Irish film director born on 3 October 1943 in Ardmore, County Waterford. He began his career in Irish television, directing the RTÉ adaptation of William Trevor's The Ballroom of Romance (1982), for which he received a Jacob's Award and a BAFTA for Best Television Single Drama.
O'Connor's feature films include Cal (1984), A Month in the Country (1987), Circle of Friends (1995), Inventing the Abbotts (1997) and Dancing at Lughnasa (1998). He has been married to actress Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio since 1990 and directed her in Fools of Fortune (1990) and The January Man (1989).
