Biography
Patricia Kennedy was an Australian actress with a career spanning theatre, radio, film and television from the 1940s. Born in Queenscliff, Victoria, she trained as a schoolteacher before winning an amateur drama festival in the late 1930s. She began her professional stage career in 1943 and became closely associated with the Melbourne Theatre Company, while also performing in England with the Bristol Old Vic.
Her film roles included Miss Chapman in The Getting of Wisdom (1977) and Aunt Gussie in My Brilliant Career (1979), for which she received an AFI Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She appeared in numerous television series and received the OBE in 1982 for services to the performing arts. Kennedy died in Melbourne in 2012.
