Biography
Patrick Grandperret (1946–2019) was a French director, screenwriter, producer and assistant director. Born in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, he began in photography before working as an assistant director on films including Claude Goretta’s The Lacemaker (1977), Maurice Pialat’s Graduate First (1978) and Loulou (1980), and others.
He directed his first feature, Court circuits, in 1981 and followed it with Mona et moi (1989), which received the Prix Jean-Vigo. Later features include the African-set L’Enfant lion (1992) and Le Maître des éléphants (1995). He also produced Claire Denis’s Beau Travail (1999) and worked extensively in television.
Grandperret died in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés on 9 March 2019.
