Biography
Paul Hengge was an Austrian screenwriter, writer and director. Born in Vienna in 1930, he trained in directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar of the Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, graduating in 1952. He began his career working in radio and theatre before moving into film and television screenwriting.
Hengge wrote screenplays for films including Double Face (1969) and Angry Harvest (1985). He contributed to the screenplay of Europa Europa (1990, also known as Hitlerjunge Salomon), directed by Agnieszka Holland. His television work includes the 1997 film Das Urteil, which received several awards. He also wrote books on biblical history and palaeoanthropology.
