Biography
Paul Kolsby is an American writer, producer and director. He was born on 12 November 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and has taught at UCLA, New York University and the American Film Institute.
Kolsby wrote for the Netflix series Ozark (2017–2022), serving as staff writer, story editor and writer on 23 episodes. He later worked as co-producer on 24 episodes. Earlier credits include the story for the film Spread (2009) and the screenplay for Darkness in Tallinn (1993, also known as City Unplugged). He has also written plays, long-form fiction and non-fiction, and contributed to The Los Angeles Times.
Kolsby was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series as a producer on Ozark (2022). He co-wrote the serial novel Ear to the Ground with David L. Ulin, published in the Los Angeles Reader in 1995–1996. He lives in Paris.
