Biography
Paul Swift (1934–1994) was an American actor best known for his roles in the early films of director John Waters. He appeared in four of Waters' feature films between 1970 and 1977, playing Steve (Cookie's boyfriend) in Multiple Maniacs (1970), The Egg Man in Pink Flamingos (1972), Butterfly in Female Trouble (1974), and Mr Paul in Desperate Living (1977). He was a member of Waters' regular ensemble, the Dreamlanders.
Swift was born and died in Baltimore, Maryland. He also appeared as himself in the documentary Edith's Shopping Bag (1976) and in archive footage in Divine Trash (1998). According to contemporary reports, he was openly gay and died of AIDS-related complications.
