Biography
Paulo Branco (born 3 June 1950) is a Portuguese film producer based between Paris and Lisbon. He began his career in the film industry in the mid-1970s and started producing in 1979, founding companies including Gemini Films and Alfama Films in France and Madragoa Filmes and Clap Filmes in Portugal.
He has produced over 300 films, collaborating with directors such as Raúl Ruiz, Manoel de Oliveira, Chantal Akerman, Wim Wenders and David Cronenberg. Notable productions include Three Lives and Only One Death (1996), The Captive (2000), Love Songs (2007), Cosmopolis (2012) and The Blue Room (2014). He is recognised for the large number of his films selected for the Cannes and Venice film festivals.
