Biography
Pavel Petrovich Kadochnikov was a Soviet actor, film director, screenwriter and theatre pedagogue. He trained at the Leningrad Theatrical Institute, graduating in 1935, and began his screen career the same year.
He is known for playing Vladimir Andreyevich Staritsky in Sergei Eisenstein's Ivan the Terrible, Part I (1944) and Ivan the Terrible, Part II: The Boyars' Plot (1958). Other notable screen roles include Major Fedotov in Secret Agent (1947), Aleksey Meresyev in The Story of a Real Man (1948) and appearances in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (1980) and Dark Eyes (1987).
Kadochnikov received the Stalin Prize three times (1948, 1949, 1951). He was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1979 and a Hero of Socialist Labour in 1985.
