Biography
Per Nørgård was a Danish composer. He was born on 13 July 1932 in Gentofte and died on 28 May 2025 in Copenhagen. He studied composition with Vagn Holmboe at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and with Nadia Boulanger in Paris.
Nørgård composed music for films including Babette's Feast (1987) and Prince of Jutland (1994). He also wrote eight symphonies, six operas and numerous chamber and vocal works, and received awards including the Nordic Council Music Prize and the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize.
