Biography

Peter Baumann is a German musician and composer. He joined the electronic group Tangerine Dream in 1971, forming its core line-up with Edgar Froese and Christopher Franke. He contributed to the band's albums and film scores until his departure in 1977.

Baumann composed his first solo album, Romance '76, while still with the band. After leaving Tangerine Dream, he pursued a solo career and in the 1980s founded the record label Private Music, which specialised in instrumental music and signed artists including Yanni and former bandmates Tangerine Dream. The soundtrack to William Friedkin's Sorcerer (1977) is among the works on which he is credited.
