Biography
Peter Chatel, born Peter Schlätel, was a German actor. He was born on 7 December 1943 in Bad Segeberg and died on 25 August 1986 in Hamburg.
He trained at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Hamburg and made his stage debut in 1967 at the Zimmertheater in Heidelberg. Chatel appeared in several films by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, including The Merchant of Four Seasons (1972), Martha (1974) and Fox and His Friends (1975), in which he played Eugen Thiess.
He also worked in Italy and received an acting prize at the Locarno Film Festival in 1970 for his role in Gradiva. Other credits include The Assassination of Trotsky (1972) and episodes of the series Derrick.
