Biography
Phil Cunningham is a producer, director and writer working in animation. He co-founded Sunrise Animation Studios in Cape Town, South Africa, with his wife Jacqui Cunningham. Originally from Zimbabwe, he previously wrote and produced the 2003 stop-motion feature The Legend of the Sky Kingdom and produced the Jungle Beat television series and its 2020 feature film.
Cunningham co-directed and served as producer and executive producer on the 2025 animated biblical musical David, which he conceived decades earlier. The film was produced by Sunrise Animation Studios in collaboration with Angel Studios and 2521 Entertainment.
