Biography

Philip Bonham-Carter is a British cinematographer and occasional director. He trained at the London School of Film Technique and spent much of his career at the BBC, where he worked on arts series including Omnibus and Arena, as well as drama strands such as Screen One, Screen Two and Play for Today.

His credits as director of photography include the 1989 television film She's Been Away and feature films such as American Friends (1991). He has also directed episodes of documentary and factual series, including work for the BBC on royal family programmes, and later directed the cookery series Delia's How to Cook (1998). He was nominated for two BAFTA Awards.
