Biography
Philip DeGuere Jr. was an American television writer, producer and occasional director. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he studied communications at Stanford University and graduated in 1966. He began his career as a writer at Universal Studios.
DeGuere created the long-running series Simon & Simon (1981–1989) and served as its executive producer for the first four seasons. He wrote episodes of numerous series including Magnum, P.I. (1980), The Twilight Zone (1985), JAG (1995) and NCIS (2003). He was also a consulting producer on NCIS and JAG.
He directed the 1978 television film Dr. Strange and executive produced revivals of Whiz Kids and The Twilight Zone, as well as the series Max Headroom (1987) and Air America (1998). DeGuere was an early adopter of computer technology in television production.
