Biography
Philippe Agostini (1910–2001) was a French cinematographer, director and screenwriter. Born in Paris, he helped found the École Louis-Lumière and began his career as an assistant to cinematographers Georges Périnal and Armand Thirard before working as director of photography from the late 1930s.
His cinematography credits include Daybreak (1939), Angels of Sin (1943), Les Dames du bois de Boulogne (1945), Gates of the Night (1946), Le Plaisir (1952), Rififi (1955) and The Silent World (1956). He also directed films, several with religious subjects, and was married to actress Odette Joyeux.
