Biography

Phyllis Housen is a film and television editor, also credited as Phyllis K. Housen. She began her career in the early 1990s as an assistant editor on features including Cronos (1992), Boxing Helena (1993) and Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004), the latter two under editor Sally Menke.

Housen has edited numerous independent features such as Dream for an Insomniac (1996), Adam & Steve (2005), Heavy Petting (2007), Meskada (2010), Cargo (2017) and Clemency (2019). Her television credits include episodes of Little Fires Everywhere (2020), Power Book IV: Force (2022), Tiny Beautiful Things (2023) and Three Women (2023).

Clemency, directed by Chinonye Chukwu and starring Alfre Woodard, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019, where it won the Grand Jury Prize. Housen has also worked on documentaries and short films.
