Biography
Piotr Cieślak was a Polish actor and theatre director. Born on 1 November 1948 in Toruń, he graduated from the acting department of the State Higher Theatre School (PWST) in Warsaw in 1970 and later completed studies in directing there.
He began his career in theatre, co-founding the Puławy Studio Theatre and later working at Warsaw's Studio Theatre and Teatr Powszechny, where he acted and directed under Zygmunt Hübner. From 1993 to 2007 he served as artistic director of Warsaw's Teatr Dramatyczny. Cieślak also taught at PWST, holding positions including pro-rector.
His film roles include Michalak in Andrzej Wajda's Man of Marble (1977) and appearances in I Hate Mondays (1971, uncredited), Pokój z widokiem na morze (1978) and Kung-fu (1979). He was married to actress Jadwiga Jankowska-Cieślak from 1971 until his death on 12 September 2015 in Warsaw.
