Biography
Pons Maar is an American actor, puppeteer, artist and filmmaker. Born on 4 August 1951 in Pensacola, Florida, he studied ceramics and visual art before moving to San Francisco, where he worked as a graphic designer, performance artist and musician in art/punk bands.
His first major film role was as the Lead Wheeler (and other parts) in Return to Oz (1985), which he also helped coordinate. He went on to play Fu in The Golden Child (1986) and Saurod in Masters of the Universe (1987), and performed creature roles in films including The Blob (1988) and Theodore Rex (1995). Maar performed throughout the run of the television series Dinosaurs and later focused on puppet and creature coordination. He served as co-head of the Screen Actors Guild Puppeteer Committee from 2003 to 2005.
