Biography
Rafael Casal is an American actor, writer and producer. Born on 8 August 1985 in Berkeley, California, he grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and first appeared on television performing on three seasons of HBO's Def Poetry Jam.
Casal co-wrote, co-produced and starred in the 2018 film Blindspotting alongside Daveed Diggs; he later served as co-creator, writer, director and showrunner on the Starz series adaptation (2021–2023), reprising his role as Miles. His other screen credits include Bad Education (2019), The Good Lord Bird (2020), Are You Afraid of the Dark? (2019) and the second season of Loki (2023) as Hunter X-5 / Brad Wolfe. He co-founded the BARS workshop at The Public Theater in New York with Diggs.
In 2026 Casal played Neil Otero in the Netflix series The Boroughs.
