Biography
Rafael Corkidi was a Mexican cinematographer, film director and screenwriter. Born in Puebla, Puebla, he worked as a cinematographer on Alejandro Jodorowsky's films Fando y Lis (1968), El Topo (1970) and The Holy Mountain (1973). He later directed feature films including Ángeles y querubines (1972), Auandar Anapu (1975), Pafnucio Santo (1977) and Deseos (1978).
Corkidi directed Figuras de la pasión (1983), the first Mexican and Latin American feature film made entirely in video format. He received the Ariel Award for Best Cinematography for El Topo in 1971 and the Ariel de Oro for his career contributions in 2013. He died in Boca del Río, Veracruz.
