Biography
Rafael Yglesias is an American novelist and screenwriter. Born in New York City on 12 May 1954, he is the son of novelists Jose Yglesias and Helen Yglesias. He left school at seventeen after the 1972 publication of his first novel, Hide Fox, And All After.
Yglesias began writing screenplays in the early 1990s. His credits include the adaptation of his own novel Fearless (1993), Death and the Maiden (1994), Les Misérables (1998), From Hell (2001) and Dark Water (2005). He has also written for television series including Aquarius (2015–2016).
His novels include A Happy Marriage (2009), which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction. He later married novelist Ann Packer.
