Biography
Rajiv Chandrasekaran is an American journalist and author. He joined The Washington Post in 1994 and served as bureau chief in Baghdad during the 2003 Iraq War and its aftermath, as well as in Cairo and Southeast Asia. He later held roles as national editor and assistant managing editor at the paper.
His 2006 non-fiction book Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone documented the American occupation administration in Baghdad. The 2010 film Green Zone, directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Matt Damon, was inspired by the book, with Chandrasekaran credited as the author of the source material. He has written two further books: Little America: The War Within the War for Afghanistan (2012) and, with Howard Schultz, For Love of Country (2014). Imperial Life in the Emerald City won the Samuel Johnson Prize.
