Biography
Raleigh Bond (20 July 1935 – 10 August 1989) was an American actor. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he worked in film, television and on stage, and also performed as a nightclub comedian.
His screen credits include the role of the Mayor in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), an insurance salesman in The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981), Mr Barrett in Pennies from Heaven (1981), a minister in Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988) and an uncredited grandfather in The Great Outdoors (1988). On television he appeared in series such as Moonlighting, Family Ties, Scarecrow and Mrs. King and Black Widow (1987).
Bond also wrote two plays produced off-Broadway and several mystery stories published in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine. His mother, Dorothy Bond, was a cartoonist and writer. He died in Los Angeles from complications of lymphoma.
