Biography
Ralph Lewis, also credited as Ralph Percy Lewis, was an American actor of the silent film era. Born in Englewood, Illinois, he began his career on the stage before making his film debut around 1912. He appeared in approximately 160 films through the late 1930s.
Lewis is best known for his role as the Leader of the House Hon. Austin Stoneman in D. W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation (1915) and as the Governor in Intolerance (1916). He had supporting roles in later films including Make Way for Tomorrow (1937). He was married to actress Vera Lewis.
