Biography
Ramón Acín Aquilué was a Spanish teacher, painter, writer and film producer. Born in Huesca, Aragon, he studied at the University of Zaragoza and became active in the anarcho-syndicalist movement from 1913, writing for anarchist publications and teaching drawing to workers.
Acín co-produced the 1933 documentary Land Without Bread (also known as Las Hurdes: Tierra Sin Pan), directed by Luis Buñuel, after winning the lottery and providing funds for the project. He was executed by nationalist forces in Huesca on 6 August 1936, shortly after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.
