Biography
George Randolph Scott was an American actor best known for his roles in Western films. Born on 23 January 1898 in Orange County, Virginia, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, he studied textile engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of North Carolina before moving to Hollywood in the late 1920s.
Scott appeared in more than 100 films between 1928 and 1962, over 60 of them Westerns. He starred in seven films directed by Budd Boetticher, including Ride Lonesome (1959), in which he also served as producer, and closed his career with Ride the High Country (1962). He was married twice and adopted two children.
