Biography
Reinhold Bernt (born Reinhold Bienert) was a German actor and screenwriter. He trained at the acting school of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, founded by Max Reinhardt, and made his stage debut in Stuttgart before returning to Berlin. There he co-founded the Gruppe junger Schauspieler with his brother, the actor Gerhard Bienert, and others; the company performed socially critical plays.
Bernt appeared in films from 1930, including a role as the clown in The Blue Angel. He took parts in several Nazi-era productions, such as Hitlerjunge Quex (1933) and Jud Süß (1940), and also worked as an assistant director and writer. After the Second World War he acted at the Schillertheater in Berlin and in DEFA films, including Rotation (1949), while increasingly working in radio as leading film roles became fewer.
