Biography
Renan Öztürk is an American filmmaker, director and cinematographer. Born in Germany in 1980, he began his career as an expedition climber and landscape artist before moving into photography and film.
He is credited as cinematographer on the documentary Sherpa (2015). Öztürk has directed films including Lost on Everest (2020) and Explorer: The Last Tepui (2022), and has worked as cinematographer or director on projects such as Meru (2015) and The Sanctity of Space (2021). He co-founded Expedition Studios and works as a photojournalist for National Geographic and Sony.
