Biography
René Hofschneider is a German actor and voice actor. He was born in 1960 in Detmold and grew up in Berlin. He began stage work as an extra at the age of 15 at Berlin's Municipal Theatre and later trained at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He appeared in various West German theatres and spent five years touring with the Grips Theater musical Linie 1.
His film debut came in 1990 as Isaak Perel, brother of the lead character, in Agnieszka Holland's Europa Europa. He has since appeared in numerous German television productions, including episodes of Tatort (Scene of the Crime), SOKO Leipzig, SOKO Wismar, Danni Lowinski, Unsere Farm in Irland and Wilsberg. He played the lead role in the early German sitcom Ein Job fürs Leben (1993). He is the older brother of actor Marco Hofschneider.
