Biography
Renee Zhan is a Chinese-American director and animator. She graduated from Harvard University in 2016 with a degree in Visual and Environmental Studies and from the National Film and Television School in 2020 with a degree in Directing Animation. She is based in London.
Her short films include Hold Me (Ca Caw Ca Caw) (2016), Reneepoptosis (2018), O Black Hole! (2020), Soft Animals (2021) and Shé (Snake) (2023). These have screened at festivals including Sundance, TIFF and SXSW, with O Black Hole! winning the Jury Prize for Best Animated Short at Sundance in 2019. She directed the segment 'Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance' for the anthology film V/H/S/Mixtape (2026).
