Biography
Reynaldo Rey (born Harry Reynolds) was an American actor and comedian. He was born on 27 January 1940 in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, and died on 28 May 2015 in Los Angeles.
After graduating from Kansas State Teachers College, he taught for seven years in Cleveland, Ohio, where he joined the Karamu House Theatre and began performing stand-up comedy. He toured with the O'Jays before moving to New York City and joining the Harlem Theater Group, which led to his first film role. He later performed internationally and was mentored by Redd Foxx, for whom he often opened.
Rey appeared in more than 50 films, including Harlem Nights (1989), A Rage in Harlem (1991) as the Blind Man, White Men Can't Jump (1992), and Friday (1995) as Red's Father. His television credits include a recurring role as Ray the Mailman on 227, appearances on The Bernie Mac Show, Everybody Hates Chris and Sister, Sister, and co-hosting BET's Comic View.
