Biography
Richard Cameron (16 June 1948 – 5 May 2026) was an English playwright and screenwriter from Doncaster, Yorkshire. He taught drama and directed Scunthorpe Youth Theatre before becoming a full-time writer in the early 1990s.
His stage works include Pond Life (1992), Can't Stand Up For Falling Down (1990) and The Glee Club (2002). He received three Sunday Times Playwriting Awards, a Fringe First and the Independent Theatre Award. His television play Stone, Scissors, Paper (1997) won the Dennis Potter Play of the Year Award.
Cameron wrote the Midsomer Murders episode 'Midsomer Rhapsody' (2005) and the screenplay for the 2018 film adaptation of Pond Life. He also wrote Dear Nobody (1998).
