Biography
Richard Fire (1945–2015) was an American writer and actor based in Chicago. He trained in the theatre department at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and joined the Organic Theater Company, where he performed and wrote for the stage.
Fire co-wrote the screenplay for the independent film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) with director John McNaughton. His other writing credits include the play and 1979 television adaptation of Bleacher Bums, episodes of the series E/R, and the screenplay for The Borrower (1991). He also appeared as an actor in films including Poltergeist III (1988).
Fire received an Emmy Award for his work on Bleacher Bums and won the International Fantasy Film Award for Best Screenplay at Fantasporto for Henry in 1991; the film was also nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay.
