Biography
Richard Hunt (17 August 1951 – 7 January 1992) was an American puppeteer and actor. He joined the Jim Henson Company in 1969 and became one of its principal performers.
On The Muppet Show (1976–1981) he performed Scooter, Statler, Janice, Beaker and Sweetums. His film credits include the same characters in The Muppet Movie (1979), The Great Muppet Caper (1981) and The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984). He also appeared in human roles in Trading Places (1983) and worked on Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock (1983–1987).
Hunt died in Manhattan of AIDS-related complications at the age of 40.
