Biography
Robert Bassac was a French actor. He was born on 29 January 1910 in Nice and died on 8 June 1940 at Erquinvillers.
Bassac trained at the conservatory in the class of Maurice Luguet and began his career in journalism and provincial theatre, including work with a troupe touring Provence. His godmother on stage was Françoise Rosay. He appeared in several films directed by Marcel Pagnol, including César (1936) as Pierre Dromard, Le Schpountz (1938) as Dromart and The Baker's Wife (1938) as the schoolteacher. Other credits include Monsieur Brotonneau (1939) as Friedel.
Bassac died in military service during the Second World War and is buried at Vallauris.
