Biography
Robert Doherty is an American television writer, producer and showrunner, also credited as Rob Doherty. He created, wrote for and served as showrunner on the CBS series Elementary (2012–2019), a modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu.
Earlier in his career he worked as a writer and producer on series including Star Trek: Voyager (1995–2001), Dark Angel (2000), Tru Calling (2003), Point Pleasant (2005) and Medium (2005–2011), where he was an executive producer. He created and wrote the ABC series R.J. Decker (2026), inspired by Carl Hiaasen's novel Double Whammy.
Doherty graduated from Colgate University in 1996 with a degree in creative writing.
