Biography
Robert Gaffney was an American cinematographer, producer and director. Born on 8 October 1931 in the Bronx, New York, he began working in the film industry with Louis de Rochemont before founding Seneca Productions, where he focused on documentaries, several shot in 70mm.
He served as second-unit director of photography on Stanley Kubrick’s Lolita (1962) and later filmed the Monument Valley sequence for 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Gaffney directed the cult film Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster (1965) and produced Light Fantastic (1964) and The Troublemaker (1964). He died on 24 November 2009.
