Biography
Robert Light, also credited as Robert Merwin Light, was an American actor and broadcaster. Born in Denver, Colorado, he made his Broadway debut in 1928 at the age of 17. His film roles in the 1930s included Paul Mercer in Reckless (1935), Ted Sterling in Shipmates Forever (1935), and Faithful George in My Man Godfrey (1936).
After his acting career, Light worked in radio. He was one of the first US Armed Forces Network broadcasters, signing the network on the air in France and Germany after D-Day during the Second World War. He later served as president of the Southern California Broadcasters Association from 1959 to 1989 and taught advertising and radio broadcasting in the Los Angeles community college system for twenty years. He died in Los Angeles in 1997.
