Biography
Robert Valley is a Canadian animator, illustrator and director. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1969, he completed a four-year animation programme there before moving to San Francisco in 1992. He later returned to Vancouver and has worked internationally on commercials, music videos and animated series.
Valley is known for directing episodes of Tron: Uprising (2012) and Love, Death & Robots (2019–2025), including 'Zima Blue', 'Ice' and '400 Boys'. He wrote and directed the animated short Pear Cider and Cigarettes (2016), which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film and won an Annie Award. He also directed the pilot episode of the animated series Invincible (2021).
